With effect from 1 July 2010, the value for money prawn noodles has raised its price for the soup version to $2.50 per bowl (Before adjustment $2.00).

I really appreciate their steadfast value for money business model. It is really difficult to find $2.00 Hawker Fare that is still being served in reasonable helping and yet tasty.

Strawberry Price War

Since Thursday, consumers are being bombarded with lower prices for Strawberry by Giant, NTUC Fairprice and Carrefour.

Just in case consumers do not know how to compare value, the advertisements carry an equation to help.

I must admit that we cannot resist advertisements and ended with 8 boxes of fruit and 1 tub of Vanilla Ice-Cream.

Having all the pens, pencils and paper

I realized that I possess all the pens, pencils and paper that I can never finish using in my entire life. In ancient China, they are the modern equivalent of 文房四宝.

It will be good if I can exercise my writing hand again and stay away from typing in as many occasions possible. I am bound to make spelling mistakes without the convenience of the spelling checker built in all word processors.

Electricity rate to increase from July 1

Life is “surely” getting better, with prices going up and up. Or is it? With increasing urbanisation around the world, the need for resources cannot be decreasing, even in a financial crisis as recent as 2008 and one that is threatening to become a sequel.

I am waiting for the harvesting of Solar Power to get more cost effective (cost of solar panels, batteries, and approval for the use of my own roof garden). Only then, I can hedge against future increment of electricity rates.

Meanwhile, the doable part will be to replace aging electrical appliances with “4 ticks” energy efficient ones, even if they cost more.

Evony Age II – cannot play in Chrome

I like updates to software, apps and browsers as they typically improves on the features or performance or compatibility.

However, one of my daily played browser games, Evony Age II, has been giving me issues when ever I update Chrome. Every time I will tell myself to wait a few days for things to work out.

This latest update in Chrome, I have not been able to play Evony Age II since. My troops must be hungry and will soon desert me.

Maybe it is time to move on to other entertainment. *sigh*

Warning: More Rain and possibly Flash Floods

Finally, the warning of more rain after the Orchard Road Flood (16 June 2010) materialises this morning.

We were wondering when the forecasted rain will come. While I welcome the cool weather, no one will appreciate the inconveniences that come with wetness.

If the rainfall today is heavy enough, it will be a test for the PUB in their newly installed solutions in the drains around Orchard Road.

NewsGator online will cease and that is certainly bad news for me. Why? I have just switched to NewsGator Online few months back.

I was using Google Reader and it was under utilized, maybe I di not like the interface. My reading rate improved with the use of NewsGator Online because of 2 things.

1. Interface

I just like it better.

2. iPhone 3GS

Just bought it and started to go log in everywhere I go. My iPhone has made me more mobile (more inclined to log in due to the ease)

Well, I just have to get back to Google Reader and hope for an improvement in the layout.

Switch

Human beings need a balance in life, not just on the activities, but also on the food and rinks we consume. Even our pets get tired of their food, *ahem* that is if owners are being “too nice” to their pets by treating them just like another human being, giving them choices.

Recently, I have been feeling tired of the Facebook games that I “diligently” play everyday. Probably the lack of challenge and new game play tires me out. Games, at times, will get to the point where players seemingly engage in production worker kind of activities, the same monotonous and repetitive clicks. This is the stage (pun intended) players will drop off.

Switch in activities is what I am going to do. More reading, maybe some writing and more outdoor activities such as walks, hmmm.
